Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Primary Prevention Specialist to join our team at the Department of the Navy - Agency Wide. As a key member of our prevention team, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing prevention initiatives to promote a safe and healthy work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead action plans to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify collective goals and objectives
  • Establish prevention activities, including determining goals, objectives, measures of performance, and effectiveness assessments
  • Identify risk factors that can lead to problematic behaviors and recommend preventative measures
  • Review and coordinate actions and projects across programs to ensure completion dates are within established time frames
  • Identify efficiencies in the development and delivery of primary prevention initiatives
  • Collect and consolidate data from diverse sources to write reports, correspondence, and other presentation mediums
  • Maintain program and administrative reference materials, project files, and written instructions from supervisor
  • Provide consultative advice to stakeholders to leverage partner insights, interpret data, and implement primary prevention policies and programs
  • Present to leadership on command prevention efforts and impacts
Requirements
  • Must have a SECRET clearance
  • Travel up to 10% may be required outside of local area
  • This position may be telework eligible
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
  • Must meet the qualifications and requirements outlined in the job announcement
Qualifications

To be eligible for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Performing program planning, coordination, and implementation
  • Evaluating prevention programs, including training, education, and outreach
  • Advising leadership on prevention methods, assessments, and training
  • Establishing prevention activities, including determining goals, objectives, measures of performance, and effectiveness assessments
