POSITION SUMMARY:

The Young Men's Christian Association of Trenton NJ is in search of dedicated, experienced, and collaborative Program Supervisors to lead and oversee our After School Initiatives. The Program Supervisor will be accountable for the planning, execution, and overall success of an after school child care service catering to children from Kindergarten through 6th grade. This role offers a competitive hourly wage.

The Program Supervisor will take charge of conducting on-site staff training, overseeing staff performance, and ensuring the delivery of a high-quality educational curriculum and activities that align with the YMCA's mission. Responsibilities include maintaining appropriate staff-to-child ratios, guiding behavior, and ensuring a safe and clean environment while fostering positive relationships with parents and guardians.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Directly supervises a team of staff members.

2. Aids in tutoring elementary education subjects (K-6).

3. Supports the implementation of age-appropriate activities in accordance with YMCA standards.

4. Assists in the planning and execution of culturally relevant and developmentally suitable program activities.

5. Applies fundamental youth development principles in interactions with children, emphasizing communication, relationship-building, and respect for diversity.

6. Guides staff in best practices for child care and education.

7. May collaborate with the program director to coordinate overall program activities.

8. Ensures the proper utilization of facilities and YMCA resources.

9. Adheres to program standards regarding safety and cleanliness.

10. Participates in staff training sessions and meetings.

11. Complies with YMCA policies and procedures, particularly those related to health and safety.

12. Acts as a role model for students and staff in attitude and behavior.

13. Maintains constructive relationships with children, parents, school staff, and volunteers, demonstrating effective communication skills.

14. Available to work on non-school days, including breaks.

15. Manages daily operations of the program effectively.

16. Facilitates staff development through training, supervision, and evaluation.

17. Administers curriculum while striving to enhance the quality of care provided.

18. Develops and nurtures cooperative relationships with parents, school personnel, and volunteers.

19. Ensures compliance with licensing and accreditation standards.

20. Maintains safety and cleanliness of the facilities utilized.

21. Performs additional related duties as assigned.
