Your Role and Contribution

The Lead Bridge Inspection Specialist will oversee bridge safety evaluations and related structural assessments in compliance with industry standards. This position collaborates closely with the Project Manager to ensure that all inspections, budgetary considerations, and quality benchmarks are achieved. Additionally, this role supervises Team Assistants in conducting inspections, generating reports, and ensuring project completion.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conducts structural inspections in alignment with established guidelines.
  • Manages the scheduling and coordination of inspection teams to ensure timely completion of evaluations and documentation.
  • Identifies structural deficiencies, assesses their conditions, and accurately codes findings.
  • Recommends appropriate repairs for identified deficiencies.
  • Maintains comprehensive records of structural conditions using industry-standard software.
  • Engages with clients to provide insights on structural conditions.
  • Utilizes tools to remove defective materials for thorough evaluations.
  • Employs various access methods to inspect hard-to-reach areas of structures.
  • Applies measuring instruments and non-destructive testing techniques.
  • Analyzes field data and performs load rating assessments.
  • Compiles analysis results and provides recommendations for load postings.
  • Oversees subcontractors responsible for traffic management and rigging.
  • Guides Team Assistants in producing accurate assessments of structural conditions.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline is strongly preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of five (5) years in bridge inspection, either as an Assistant or Team Leader.
  • Certifications: CBSI certification is mandatory.

Travel Requirements: Must be willing to travel as necessary to conduct inspections, which may include occasional overnight stays.

Preferred Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, or Microsoft Office Suite is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to accept guidance and direction from others.
  • Openness to learning and professional growth.
