Position Overview

The Chief Security Operations Officer at AEG will play a pivotal role in ensuring a secure environment by managing security operations across the venue. This position will focus on the formulation and implementation of standard operating procedures while maintaining exceptional customer service standards.

Compensation
This role offers an annual salary range of $110,000 to $120,000, along with performance-based bonuses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of the operational and strategic connections within the organization.
  • Formulate, execute, and assess departmental objectives and action plans aligned with AEG's mission and strategic vision.
  • Ensure timely completion of responsibilities through effective organization, prioritization, delegation, and time management.
  • Utilize technical expertise to guarantee successful performance, compiling and submitting necessary records and reports reflecting departmental activities.
  • Prepare, present, and monitor the progress of annual departmental objectives.
  • Submit proposals for service enhancements with thorough analysis and justification.
  • Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and standards set by regulatory and accrediting bodies.
  • Assist in the development and coordination of organization-wide security initiatives, providing documentation in the form of operational manuals.
  • Develop, implement, and uphold compliance with AEG policies and procedures, as well as regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Initiate and maintain quality improvement activities to ensure ongoing security excellence for patrons, visitors, and employees.
  • Foster strong working relationships with external agencies, including local, state, and federal law enforcement entities.
  • Interpret and enforce new or updated local, state, and federal security regulations applicable to AEG.
  • Consistently apply all aspects of security regulations throughout the venue.
  • Manage performance by evaluating staff competencies and providing constructive feedback in accordance with AEG's Performance Management Program.
  • Educate security personnel on their roles in delivering security services; review and update emergency preparedness protocols and develop job function qualifications for staff.
  • Guide security personnel in offering direction and assistance to patrons, visitors, and employees in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Direct departmental goals and activities while adhering to sound security and management principles, communicating ideas clearly and creatively.
  • Assess needs, allocate resources, and resolve staffing, space, equipment, and supply-related issues.
  • Plan, develop, monitor, and take accountability for operating within the annual departmental and capital equipment budget.
  • Review, justify, and implement strategies to enhance financial performance for assigned departments, including expenses, revenues, and productivity.
  • Provide feedback to department heads regarding the annual budget and detailed justifications.
  • Communicate changes and updates to regulatory standards to all personnel.
  • Facilitate improvements in security services through effective communication, collaboration, and interdisciplinary problem-solving, serving as a role model and mentor to staff.
  • Assume responsibility for professional development and integrate acquired knowledge and skills into practice.
  • Support employees in developing their professional and technical skills, ensuring competency among all security personnel, including internal and third-party subcontractors.
  • Promote good employee morale and foster harmony within departments and the organization.
  • Provide direction and guidance to supervisory staff in maintaining security services and addressing special issues.
  • Represent the Security Department at all required functions.
  • Ensure all building security systems are functioning properly during events and non-event periods, including surveillance cameras and access control systems.
  • Act as the escalation point for client and employee security inquiries, concerns, and complaints during events.
  • Collaborate with the Events department to create security-related estimates for events, including police, fire, and medical needs.
  • Maintain the venue's reputation for outstanding entertainment experiences by balancing rule enforcement with guest safety and enjoyment.
  • Develop comprehensive operational maps for various functionalities, including staff placement and access control.
  • Coordinate with emergency services personnel and oversee medical and first aid facilities during events.
  • Manage and supervise contracted security personnel for various events.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the operational and strategic connections within the organization.
  • Oversee and manage contracted parking personnel for events, approving parking lists and passes as necessary.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
  • Make prompt decisions and communicate effectively with management, first responders, venue guests, employees, and performers during emergencies.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to work extended and irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • A minimum of six (6) years of progressive security experience, including managerial roles.
  • Experience in security management within stadiums, arenas, or similar venues.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and projects under tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to provide clear direction and constructive feedback.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external clients and peers at all organizational levels.
  • Extensive experience in team management, with a demonstrated ability to coach, counsel, direct, and develop teams or large groups.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexible schedule, with the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Physical ability to stand for prolonged periods, walk extensively, and work in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to remain adaptable and responsive to changing situations.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Certified Sports Security Professional (CSSP) are preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid California State Driver's License.
