Position Overview:
The Rail Operations Assistant Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing and enhancing the performance of train operations. This position is integral to ensuring that all aspects of railroad train operations, including the management of train crews and first-level managers, are executed efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate closely with other Assistant Managers to develop annual scopes and budgets for train operations, particularly focusing on subcontracted services.
2. Ensure the highest standards of safety and on-time performance (OTP) for train services, managing operations that include both revenue and non-revenue train starts.
3. Drive improvements in OTP, aiming to minimize passenger delays and community disruptions during incidents.
4. Support the creation of Work Directive Proposals related to customer service and operational responses.
5. Work in tandem with IT and Procurement teams to foster a streamlined, digital, and efficient operational environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven leadership capabilities in managing teams and labor relations.
- Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant operational software.
- Experience in applying new technologies to enhance safety and operational efficiency.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's Degree in Transportation or a related field, complemented by extensive experience in Passenger or Commuter Railroad Operations, ideally culminating in a senior operational role.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to conduct inspections and manage equipment, with physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Additional Information:
Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and pass background checks and physical examinations as part of the hiring process. This role is crucial for fostering a culture of safety and efficiency within the organization.
