Position Overview:
We are looking for a full-time Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join our team. The successful candidate will:
Conduct a range of waived, moderately complex, and highly complex tests on patients across all age groups, adhering to CMS-2226-F: 42 CFR 493 Medicare, Medicaid, and CLIA standards.
Utilize principles, theories, and techniques in accordance with Laboratory Practices and Procedures to ensure precise test outcomes in Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, and Microbiology.
Key Responsibilities:
Demonstrate technical expertise and skills essential for maintaining quality standards. Perform department-specific testing across various complexities.
Ensure procedural knowledge is applied to deliver timely and efficient service while reporting test results promptly.
Conduct calibrations, quality control, instrument function verification, scheduled maintenance, and minor troubleshooting as per the procedure manual.Manage all clerical duties associated with the role and handle specimens as instructed.
Identify, confirm, and/or verify unusual test results or discrepancies as outlined in the procedure manuals, promptly informing the Medical Technologist or Laboratory Manager of any critical issues.
Maintain professional competencies, engage in ongoing education, and provide appropriate care to patients of all ages (neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics).
Adhere to safety protocols and report any unsafe practices or conditions to management.Follow established infection control practices and guidelines.
Propose enhancements to quality and workflow, leveraging innovative ideas to develop improved processes or services.
Ensure effective and efficient use of reagents, chemicals, and supplies while maintaining adequate inventory in all work areas.Draw venous, arterial, and capillary samples from patients in accordance with phlebotomy protocols and age-specific requirements.
Exhibit a strong commitment to departmental schedules regarding attendance and work hours. Rotate through all sections as needed with appropriate training.
Participate in continuing education as required.

Qualifications:
Education:
Required:
High school diploma and completion of a one-year medical laboratory or clinical laboratory training program accredited by ABHES, CAHEA, or other HHS-approved organizations.
Preferred:
Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology and completion of a medical laboratory training or clinical laboratory training program accredited by ABHES or CAHEA or other HHS-approved organizations.
Experience:
Preferred:
One year of clinical laboratory experience is preferred.
Certification/Licensure/Registration:
Required:
Certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or successful completion of certification within 12 months of employment.
BLS/CPR certification within 6 months of employment.
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to meet the specific needs of patients across different age groups.
Ability to adhere to procedures accurately and consistently under the guidance of a Medical Technologist.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to identify problems and engage in minor problem-solving.
Capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to meet deadlines effectively.
Physical Requirements:
As defined by the physical requirements and working conditions maintained by the Occupational Health Department.
