Position Overview:
We are looking for a full-time Clinical Laboratory Specialist to join our team. The Specialist will conduct a range of waived, moderately complex, and highly complex tests on patients across all age groups, adhering to established guidelines and standards. Utilizing scientific principles and methodologies, the Specialist will ensure accurate results in areas such as Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, and Microbiology.
Key Responsibilities:
Utilize technical expertise to uphold quality standards in laboratory procedures. Execute department-specific testing protocols effectively and efficiently.
Maintain procedural knowledge to ensure timely reporting of test results. Conduct calibrations, quality control checks, instrument function verifications, and preventative maintenance as per established protocols.
Perform clerical duties associated with the role and manage specimens appropriately. Identify and address unusual test results, communicating relevant issues to the Medical Technologist or Laboratory Manager.
Engage in continuous professional development and provide care to patients of all ages, adhering to safety and infection control guidelines. Suggest improvements for quality and workflow, contributing to the enhancement of laboratory processes.
Demonstrate effective use of reagents and supplies while maintaining adequate inventory levels. Collect blood samples from patients, ensuring adherence to phlebotomy protocols and age-specific considerations. Commit to departmental schedules and participate in ongoing education as required.

Perform any other responsibilities as assigned, aligned with qualifications.
Qualifications:
Education:
Required: High school diploma and completion of a one-year medical laboratory or clinical laboratory training program recognized by relevant accrediting bodies.Preferred: Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology and completion of an accredited medical laboratory training program.Experience:
Preferred: At least one year of clinical laboratory experience.Certification/Licensure:
Required: Certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or successful completion of certification within the first year of employment. BLS/CPR certification within six months of employment.Skills and Competencies:
Ability to meet the specific needs of patients across different age groups. Proficient in following procedures accurately under the guidance of a Medical Technologist. Strong communication skills and problem-solving abilities. Capable of managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines effectively.

As outlined by the Occupational Health Department's physical requirements and working conditions.
