Position: Software Architect

PMAT is in search of a Software Architect who will play a pivotal role in developing exceptional software solutions. This role encompasses supporting various programs, enhancing existing architectures, and creating new functionalities in current systems, as well as developing new external applications that elevate overall operational capabilities.

You will be an integral part of a seasoned software engineering team, collaborating with designers, developers, quality assurance, and product managers to deliver secure, high-performance applications at scale.

The ideal candidate will exhibit strong leadership and communication abilities, demonstrating a commitment to continuously enhancing development processes within PMAT while effectively conveying ideas to other team leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and oversee the implementation of solutions for current programs supported by PMAT.
  • Architect and develop software solutions utilizing contemporary Software Engineering tools and methodologies, while recommending new and emerging technologies to refine designs and solutions.
  • Engage in system design, development, and software implementation of proof-of-concept prototypes.
  • Possess familiarity with Big Data ingestion, processing, and dissemination using the latest tools and UI frameworks to enable rapid development cycles.
  • Conduct evaluations and experiments of prototype capabilities during naval exercises and demonstrations.
  • Develop and test software interfaces to facilitate multi-sensor, multi-INT sensor data dissemination, proposing new R&D initiatives to enhance PMAT's capabilities in this domain.
  • Provide mentorship to junior software engineering staff, contributing to their skill enhancement and career growth.
  • Create documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and clear code designs to document and demonstrate solutions effectively.
  • Collaborate with Business Development teams to understand business requirements and assist in crafting proposal solutions for responses to RFPs.
  • Exhibit meticulous attention to detail to ensure that delivered projects align with customer requirements, adhering to robust software development management processes.
  • Work collaboratively with Software Engineers, Team Leads, and Program Management to achieve PMAT's objectives, employing creative problem-solving skills and fostering consensus on proposals and solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Software Engineering).
  • 15+ years of experience as a software developer.
  • 8+ years in a technical leadership role.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages.
  • Experience with SOA/microservice architectures.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, VMware, etc.).
  • Experience with Big Data, Data Lakes, and high-throughput data ingestion and dissemination.
  • Proficient in Agile, Hybrid, and Waterfall development methodologies, with the ability to transition seamlessly between them.
  • Experience in collaborating, documenting, and supporting complex production systems for effective communication and knowledge capture.
  • Results-oriented with a focus on production; capable of evaluating requirement scopes and ensuring timely project deliveries.
  • Aspiring to a leadership position, with strong communication skills directed towards teams, management, and customers.
  • In-depth understanding of Software Architecture, Design Patterns, and Test/Behavior-driven development.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with Minotaur Mission Management System.
  • Experience with remote infrastructures and technologies.
  • Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Deployment (CI/CD) processes.
  • Proficiency in languages such as C++, Java, JavaScript, or similar in a Linux environment.

Clearance: Active Top Secret/SCI clearance required.

Work Environment: This position may involve remote work depending on location and access to PMAT offices. Some roles may require work in a government facility.
