Position: Software Architect

PMAT is in search of a Software Architect who will play a pivotal role in delivering top-tier software solutions. This role encompasses support for various initiatives, enhancing existing frameworks, creating new functionalities within current systems, and/or developing innovative external applications that bolster overall operational efficiency.

As a vital member of a seasoned software engineering team, you will collaborate with designers, developers, quality assurance professionals, and product managers to produce secure, high-performance applications at scale.

The ideal candidate will exhibit exceptional leadership and communication abilities. A passion for continuously refining development processes at PMAT is essential, along with the capability to effectively convey ideas to fellow team leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and spearhead the implementation of solutions pertinent to ongoing programs supported by PMAT.
  • Design and create software solutions utilizing contemporary Software Engineering tools and methodologies. Propose new and emerging technologies to enhance designs and solutions.
  • Engage in system design, development, and software implementation of proof-of-concept prototypes.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with Big Data ingestion, processing, and dissemination through the latest tools and UI frameworks to enable rapid development cycles.
  • Conduct evaluations and experiments of prototype capabilities during naval exercises and demonstrations.
  • Develop and test software interfaces to facilitate multi-sensor, multi-INT sensor data dissemination. Suggest new research and development initiatives to improve PMAT's capabilities in this domain.
  • Provide mentorship to junior software engineering staff. PMAT is committed to fostering the skills and careers of our team members, and you will be integral to this mission.
  • Document and illustrate solutions through the creation of documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and clear code designs. You must effectively communicate with both technical staff and customers who may require broader or more detailed explanations.
  • Collaborate with Business Development teams to comprehend business needs and assist in crafting proposal solutions for responses to RFPs.
  • Exhibit meticulous attention to detail to ensure that delivered projects meet customer requirements. Adhering to robust software development management processes will be crucial in this regard.
  • Work collaboratively with Software Engineers, Team Leads, and Program Management to achieve PMAT's objectives. You are a creative problem solver who excels in building consensus on proposals and solutions. Strong leadership is essential.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Software Engineering).
  • 15+ years of experience as a software developer.
  • 8+ years in a technical leadership role.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages.
  • Experience with SOA/microservice architectures.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, VMware, etc.).
  • Experience with Big Data, Data Lakes, high-throughput data ingestion and dissemination, and supporting tools.
  • Proficient in Agile, Hybrid, and Waterfall development methodologies, with the ability to transition seamlessly between them.
  • Experience in collaborating, documenting, and supporting complex production systems for effective customer communication and team learning.
  • Results-oriented with a focus on production. Capable of assessing requirement scope and proactively addressing issues to maintain project timelines. Ability to work alongside project managers to schedule tasks that meet realistic deadlines.
  • Aspiring for a leadership role. Open to sharing opinions while also being receptive to feedback. Effective communication is critical across all levels, from teams to management and customers.
  • Strong understanding of Software Architecture, Design Patterns, and Test/Behavior-driven development.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with Minotaur Mission Management System.
  • Experience with remote infrastructures and technologies.
  • Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Deployment (CI/CD) processes.
  • Proficiency in languages such as C++, Java, JavaScript, or similar in a Linux environment.

Clearance: Active Top Secret/SCI clearance required.

Work Environment: Hybrid work arrangement available, with remote work acceptable based on location and access to PMAT offices. Occasional travel may be necessary for customer engagement and team coordination.
