A leading company in the medical device sector is seeking a Senior Software Architect Engineer to spearhead the architectural development of software solutions aimed at enhancing surgical planning systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilizes expertise in software architecture to create a robust and comprehensive software development framework for the design and deployment of advanced surgical planning applications and associated data management systems.
- Employs a wide-ranging background in software engineering, including open-source and commercial toolkits, data visualization, user experience management, cloud infrastructure, and multi-platform software development to optimize performance on both specialized and general-purpose hardware.
- Designs and establishes hierarchical structures for independent software modules, leveraging contemporary design patterns and best practices in software engineering. Provides mentorship to team members in software design initiatives.
- Refines and packages both existing and new functionalities for organizational use.
- Engages with clinical users and subject matter experts to gain insights into the surgical planning domain for orthopedic procedures.
- Operates within a quality system framework to generate necessary technical and regulatory documentation.
- Develops and implements project plans aligned with departmental objectives.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in software architecture.
- Proficient in C++ programming and application design methodologies.
- Extensive experience with both open-source and commercial data management and visualization toolkits, such as ITK and VTK, with familiarity in 3D Slicer project architecture considered advantageous.
- Experience in designing deployable data management workflows, including transactional and relational databases, and multi-client software systems, with a strong understanding of configuration and version management strategies.
- Familiarity with modern user interface and experience design tools, particularly Qt.
- Experience in medical image data processing is beneficial, particularly with CT scan data.
- Knowledge of regulatory environments, design controls, and 510(k) submissions is a plus.
- Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills are essential.
