POSITION OVERVIEW:
The primary focus of this role is to oversee the planning, organization, and execution of large-scale events and banquets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Review Banquet Event Orders (BEO) daily to ensure all details are addressed. 10%
2. Supervise and coordinate the activities of culinary staff engaged in food preparation. 15%
3. Communicate effectively with team members both verbally and in writing. 10%
4. Participate in inventory management and control. 10%
5. Manage food requirements and monitor food and labor costs. 15%
6. Maintain operational systems and procedures to ensure the banquet kitchen is ready for the next day. 10%
7. Uphold safety and sanitation standards. 10%
8. Ensure all cooking stations are adequately supplied. 10%
9. Verify that kitchen equipment is functioning properly. 10%
10. Perform any additional duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years in a high-volume banquet kitchen, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role such as Sous Chef or Chef de Partie.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
- In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations.
- Flexibility to work varied hours and days.
- Awareness of current culinary trends.
- Ability to lead and mentor a team of culinary professionals.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Basic computer skills for utilizing hardware and software.
- Capability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects, up to 50 lbs.
TRAVEL:
Occasional travel may be necessary.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to stand for long durations, bend, lift, and carry heavy items, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT:
Responsible for developing objectives and general policies for specific programs or functional areas, operating within the framework of established goals and plans. Daily tasks and decisions are made independently, with outcomes reviewed by a supervisor.
