Vice President of Credit Portfolio Management

Position Overview:
The Vice President of Residential Real Estate Risk – Collections is tasked with formulating risk strategies, conducting analytics, and overseeing early default collections and post-charge-off recovery for the residential real estate portfolio in the United States.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and optimize existing early and late-stage collections strategies while innovating and testing new methodologies for collections and recovery.
2. Utilize advanced analytical techniques to create segmentation and contact strategies aimed at enhancing customer treatment outcomes.
3. Design and implement champion/challenger collection strategies, conducting hypothesis testing to assess the impacts of new approaches.
4. Monitor and report on key initiatives, performance metrics, and emerging trends, ensuring risks are analyzed and communicated effectively to senior leadership.
5. Employ analytical tools such as SAS, R, SQL, or Python (with a preference for SAS) to derive data-driven insights regarding collection and recovery strategies.
6. Manage the audit and control environment, oversee end-user computing portals, and interact with both internal and external auditors.
7. Stay informed about relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in mortgage servicing, debt collection, and recovery.
8. Foster cross-functional partnerships to develop and implement effective collection strategies and support broader business initiatives.
9. Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies, applying sound ethical judgment in all business practices.
Qualifications:
1. 6-10 years of experience in credit risk management or equivalent experience, preferably within the financial services sector.
2. Strong background in the residential real estate (mortgage/home-equity) industry is highly desirable.
3. Proficiency in SAS coding with macros or familiarity with other data management tools such as R, SQL, or Python (with the ability to quickly learn SAS).
4. Experience with SQL programming in a UNIX environment is preferred.
5. Proven ability to synthesize information, prioritize tasks, and drive results with a strong sense of urgency.
6. Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and project management skills are essential.
7. Ability to work effectively in virtual teams across different geographies and time zones is preferred.
8. Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must.
9. Ability to establish solid cross-functional partnerships to contribute to and execute business initiatives.
Education:
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
