POSITION SUMMARY

The Fire Safety Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing fire alarm systems tailored to meet the unique needs of various building projects. This role involves selecting the appropriate mix of hardware, software, and services to ensure optimal performance and value for clients while aligning with their overall business goals.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to operational excellence and customer satisfaction. This position serves as the primary technical authority within the organization, supporting various projects and retrofits. A focus on safety and effective communication of technical solutions to both internal teams and external clients is essential. Responsibilities include conducting site assessments, reviewing specifications, and identifying potential opportunities and risks throughout the project lifecycle.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support project managers in delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team of professionals across various disciplines.
  • Assist in pricing change orders for additional work and suggest enhancements.
  • Provide forecasting for labor requirements on projects.
  • Coordinate efforts with internal teams, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain project updates and communicate effectively with project managers.
  • Participate in job meetings as necessary, as directed by project managers.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline, or 5 years of hands-on experience in fire alarm systems, including design and installation.
  • Relevant certifications and/or programming experience with systems such as EST-3, EST-4, or equivalent Fire Alarm Systems.
  • Active NICET IV or PE certification, with the ability to stamp plans in Massachusetts.
  • Proficiency in fire alarm systems, including voice evacuation and mass notification technologies.
  • Familiarity with current NFPA, IFC, IBC, and other relevant codes governing fire alarm systems.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, fire alarm design, and programming is advantageous.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, submittals, and operational manuals.
  • Skilled in understanding customer needs and providing cost-effective solutions.
  • Experience using hand tools, test equipment, and digital multimeters for troubleshooting.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to fulfill project requirements.
  • Some overnight travel may be necessary.
