Role Overview:

The Investment Accounting & Reporting division is tasked with the comprehensive coordination of reporting and analysis of investment outcomes. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including the statutory reporting of investments within New York Life's portfolios, financial performance analysis, and the application of investment accounting policies. The position guarantees that all reporting is precise and adheres to both internal and external accounting standards and regulations. Additionally, the role involves providing financial analysis that elucidates and supports the reported outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, analyze, and review financial reporting deliverables related to NY Life's Investment portfolio, including reports for Senior Management, Investment Committees, Statutory Blue Books, and Statutory Notes/Disclosures.
  • Oversee daily responsibilities, conduct self-reviews, and communicate progress effectively to management.
  • Review financial reports for both internal (Controller, CFO, Business Units, and Investment Committee) and external (Regulatory) stakeholders.
  • Proactively assist the team in various capacities, including supporting senior associates/managers with projects and ad-hoc tasks, as well as providing assistance to offshore teams.
  • Coordinate with shared services to prepare and deliver investment-related data.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX regulations by developing, documenting, testing, and reviewing controls and procedures.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of Investment Accounting Policies in line with statutory standards and regulations.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required.

  • 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance is essential.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a high-output environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and self-motivation.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to assist others. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt priorities as needed.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint; familiarity with SAP/SharePoint is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary Range: $77,500 - $132,500

Overtime Eligible: Exempt

Discretionary Bonus Eligible: Yes

Sales Bonus Eligible: No

Actual base salary will be determined based on various factors, including individual experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Employees may also participate in an annual discretionary bonus program.
