Role Overview:
Security Police Officers are tasked with safeguarding Naval Reactors Program personnel, property, and sensitive information from potential threats including theft, diversion, sabotage, or other unlawful activities.
Officers are responsible for screening individuals and vehicles in accordance with established access protocols to prevent unauthorized entry and the introduction of prohibited items.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the protection of Program assets by maintaining and securing the physical boundaries of the facility.
- Understand and execute detailed procedures outlined in General and Post Orders.
- Conduct patrols of the property on foot and/or in vehicles to deter, detect, and assess illegal or unauthorized activities.
- Provide security for facilities, classified materials, and personnel to prevent unauthorized access, theft, or intentional damage.
- Deter, detect, and report any suspected espionage or sabotage activities.
- Manage the ingress and egress of personnel and vehicles in secure areas.
- Perform escort duties as necessary.
- Identify and report violations of security and safety regulations.
- Respond to alarms or any unusual or suspicious activities.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all security protocols and applicable federal/state laws.
- Meet Department of Energy firearms qualification and physical fitness standards.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
- Possess a valid driver's license throughout employment.
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- High School diploma or equivalent, along with one of the following:
- At least two years of college or vocational training in criminal justice, law enforcement, or a related field;
OR
At least two years of military, civilian law enforcement, or professional security experience.
- Meet Department of Energy medical, psychological, and physical fitness standards.
- Pass drug testing and a federal background investigation.
- Maintain eligibility for access to classified information.
- Meet and uphold Department of Energy firearms qualification standards.
- Ability to perform essential functions as outlined for the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active Secret or higher Security Clearance.
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Law Enforcement or Criminal Justice.
- Experience in civilian or military law enforcement.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
