Position Overview:
The Shipyard Field Engineering team is seeking motivated individuals to join our efforts at the Reactor Plant Contractors' Office (RPCO). Opportunities are available in Integrated Plant Testing and Refueling Services.
This role is hands-on and crucial for integrating the efforts of various stakeholders to ensure the successful maintenance and construction of naval nuclear vessels.
Upon successful completion of technical training at our designated laboratories, candidates will be assigned to the Norfolk Naval Shipyard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as independent representatives of the company at nuclear-capable shipyards and Naval Bases.
- Provide technical support, consultation, and oversight during the installation, testing, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of complex equipment and nuclear systems.
- Engage directly with ship's force, senior shipyard leadership, and Naval Reactors in a shipboard industrial environment.
- Proactively identify and mitigate potential issues to prevent impacts on costs and delivery schedules.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend new products and equipment upgrades as necessary.
Field Engineers operate independently to uphold the best interests of the company.

This position represents a significant career development opportunity within NNL. It is highly recommended that candidates consider returning to one of our laboratory locations after completing a five-year field assignment to further their careers as leaders within the organization.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in engineering or a science-related field from an accredited institution with a minimum of four years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree in a similar field with at least two years of relevant experience.
