Clinical Nursing Educator

Trocaire College is seeking a Clinical Instructor to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of nursing education. This part-time position offers a competitive compensation of $50.00 per hour for MSN Clinical Instructors.
Role Summary:
The primary objective of clinical education at Trocaire College is to facilitate nursing students in demonstrating and integrating essential professional knowledge, skills, and attitudes while interacting with diverse patients and healthcare professionals. These educational experiences are conducted under the guidance and mentorship of clinical faculty.
The Clinical Instructor is accountable for delivering instruction primarily in clinical and laboratory environments. This position necessitates a proven background, expertise, and experience in a specialized area of nursing practice as both a direct care provider and clinical educator. Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the clinical experiences of 8-10 students to meet curriculum and nursing program goals.
- Create an inclusive learning environment that accommodates a diverse student body through various teaching methodologies, building on prior knowledge and facilitating a progression from simple to complex concepts.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration between instructors, full-time faculty, and students to enhance the clinical learning experience.
- Maintain necessary credentials, licensure, and certifications required for teaching and nursing practice.
- Stay current with technological advancements and apply evidence-based practices in clinical instruction.
- Coordinate clinical assignments with facility managers based on course objectives, patient needs, and available learning opportunities.
- Design engaging activities aligned with course content to promote active learning and student participation.
- Provide timely feedback on clinical assignments and paperwork to students.
- Manage Clinical Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) and offer individual support for students not meeting clinical expectations.
- Conduct weekly formative evaluations and timely mid-term and final assessments of student performance.
- Monitor and approve student attendance records promptly.
- Ensure compliance with clinical facility policies and Trocaire College regulations.
- Communicate any student-related concerns to the Nursing Clinical Education team promptly.
- Adhere to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) to protect student educational records.
- Comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards to safeguard personal health information.
Qualifications:
- Minimum BSN Degree.
- Current and unencumbered New York State nursing license as a registered nurse.
- Current BLS Certification.
- At least two years of clinical experience.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and professional skills.
- Conflict resolution and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to adapt to change readily.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a higher education environment.
- Background in clinical teaching roles.
- MSN Degree or current enrollment in a graduate nursing program.
