Position Overview:

The Ammunition Procurement Specialist is responsible for overseeing the acquisition of ammunition, reloading materials, firearm tools, and related merchandise for the organization. This role involves evaluating product assortments, negotiating with suppliers for competitive pricing, managing inventory levels, and ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and manage the product assortment, including new additions, phase-outs, and clearance of items to meet sales, inventory turnover, and profit margin objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with the Planning Manager, Demand Planners, and Allocators to ensure data accuracy for assigned products.
  • Maintain a strong partnership with Demand Planners to guarantee forecast precision and system updates in a dynamic product environment. Coordinate promotional activities, product launches, and critical inventory for each location.
  • Negotiate and manage purchasing agreements, vendor return policies, and market development initiatives.
  • Keep detailed records of product quotes and pricing structures.
  • Work in conjunction with planning teams to execute purchasing tasks effectively.
  • Prepare and confirm the receipt of purchase orders to facilitate payment processing.
  • Identify and address potential supply chain challenges; follow up to ensure timely and accurate product delivery.
  • Communicate with suppliers and maintain relationships with vendors regarding quotes and the status of purchase orders, ensuring all products are shipped and delivered on schedule.
  • Prevent stock shortages, manage excess inventory risks, and liaise with store operations about seasonal needs and inventory clearance.
  • Stay informed about national market trends and product developments that could influence current performance and future sales.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to adapt to departmental policies and procedures while maintaining accurate records.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Robust analytical and mathematical skills are essential.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently.

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in retail management, procurement, or a similar field is required.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

This position is moderately active, primarily involving sitting, with occasional walking or standing. Employees may need to lift up to 75 lbs. occasionally and perform tasks requiring visual acuity for computer work. The work environment typically has a moderate noise level.

Travel Requirements:

This role may involve some travel.
