The Procurement Specialist is a key member of the Covanta team, responsible for managing the local and regional procurement process in accordance with established company procedures and policies. This role owns all facility procurement activities from supplier qualification through performance management and is responsible for all related supplier onboarding activities, as well as ensuring compliance with supply scopes, company policies, and acceptable business practices.
Key Responsibilities:- Supplier Qualification and Relationship Management: Develop and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, ensuring they meet the company's quality and service standards.
- Request for Proposal (RFP) and Bid Management: Coordinate and participate in bid review conferences, evaluate and analyze proposals, and negotiate contracts.
- Purchase Order Placement and Expediting: Place and expedite purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery of goods and services.
- Total Cost Reduction Initiatives: Lead initiatives to reduce costs and improve efficiency in procurement processes.
- Supplier Performance Analysis and Contract Compliance: Monitor supplier performance, analyze data, and ensure compliance with contracts and company policies.
- Training and Instruction: Provide training and instruction to internal clients on procurement systems and processes.
- Supplier Interface and Development: Manage supplier interface, strengthen the supplier base through supplier visits and technical conferences.
- Corporate and Regional Meetings: Attend corporate and regional procurement meetings and conferences as required.
- Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Experience: 5+ years of relevant procurement and supply management experience is required.
- ISM and/or APICS Certification: ISM and/or APICS certification is highly desired but not required.
- Procurement Contracting Legal Aspects: Knowledge of procurement contracting legal aspects and procurement contracts.
- Risk Management and Warranty: Understanding of risk management, warranty, and liability.
- Industrial Environment: Comfort in working in industrial environments with heat, odor, etc.
- Safety Awareness: High level of safety awareness and championship.
- Negotiation Skills: Demonstrated negotiation skills with an ability to make decisions based on data and trends.
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Ability to develop and report KPIs.
- Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) Modeling: Understanding of TCO modeling, contracts, and change management.
