The Senior Manager of Student Financial Services role is designed for a proactive, detail-oriented professional who prioritizes student success.

This position involves active participation in the Financial Aid team, with responsibilities that include monitoring and interpreting best practices and legislative changes from various educational agencies.

The individual will provide recommendations and counsel to the Director of Financial Aid to ensure adherence to established policies and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Continuously monitor and interpret legislative updates and best practices from relevant educational bodies, advising leadership on necessary compliance actions.
  • Oversee the posting of required student disclosures online and ensure that all financial aid-related content is reviewed and updated annually.
  • Maintain and update the financial aid office's policy and procedure manual.
  • Manage communication and internal operations within the financial aid office, including email, mail, documentation, data systems, and website content.
  • Conduct need analysis functions using financial aid information submitted by applicants, following federal, state, and institutional guidelines to assess financial need.
  • Act as a backup for monitoring student satisfactory academic progress (SAP) to confirm eligibility for Title IV aid.
  • Serve as an alternate member of the Scholastic Standards and Appeals Committee, demonstrating compassion and discretion for students facing unique circumstances.
  • Assist with scholarship competitions, admissions events, and other activities requiring financial aid staff involvement.
  • Engage with current and prospective students and their families, providing exceptional customer service with empathy and understanding.
  • Ensure the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive student information.
  • Commit to ongoing learning about continuous improvement strategies and apply them in daily operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: May provide functional supervision over student assistants.

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures:

  • Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years in financial aid, higher education administration, compliance/policy, accounting, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated skills in project management and organizational effectiveness with a strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with advanced features of word processing and spreadsheet/database software.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to interpret complex financial aid regulations, with preferred knowledge of Title IV and other federal financial aid programs.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proficient in grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Ability to explain and convey complex information clearly.
  • Capacity to work independently and take initiative in problem-solving.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively in a complex work environment.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Judgment in handling highly confidential information.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting.
  • Willingness to learn new computer skills and features.
  • Effective communication across diverse cultural backgrounds.

Work Environment and Physical Demands: Evening and weekend work may be required occasionally. The employee may need to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The work environment is typically an office setting with low to moderate noise levels.

Required Training and Other Conditions of Employment: All employees will undergo required training, including Employee Safety Overview, Anti-Harassment Training, Annual Data Security Training, and Annual Title IX Training.

Other Conditions of Employment: The successful candidate must ensure eligibility for employment in the United States on or before the effective date of the appointment. Visa sponsorship is not available at this time.
