Equipment Breakdown Underwriting Director

The Hartford is seeking a highly skilled Equipment Breakdown Underwriting Director to join our team. As a key member of our Middle and Large Commercial (MLC) Equipment Breakdown Underwriting team, you will play a critical role in driving business results through technical expertise and underwriting excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide referral underwriting decisions within your authority and make recommendations to the Equipment Breakdown Underwriting Director for risks outside your authority.
  • Collaborate closely with Underwriting, Product, and Risk Engineering teams to develop and maintain underwriting guidelines and standards.
  • Lead or participate in underwriting audits to ensure compliance with company standards and guidelines.
  • Monitor and assess the implementation of underwriting guidelines, service standards, and operational efficiencies.
  • Develop and maintain solid relationships with internal and external business partners.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of Equipment Breakdown underwriting experience.
  • Strong product knowledge and underwriting expertise.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to think analytically and make recommendations to meet business needs.
  • High energy self-starter with entrepreneurial spirit and collaboration skills.

The Hartford offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $129,680 - $194,520, as well as opportunities for short-term and annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
