Role Overview: This position is situated within the Space Systems Development (SSD) division, which is dedicated to innovating advanced concepts and systems that promote sustainable living and working in space.

As a member of our diverse team of innovators and problem-solvers, your contributions will play a crucial role in shaping the future of space exploration. This role demands a commitment to safety and meticulous attention to detail, as you will be directly involved in enhancing the safety and reliability of spaceflight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the comprehensive integration and arrangement of structural, mechanical, fluid, and avionics subsystems within the overall vehicle design.
  • Establish and oversee interface definitions among subsystems, ensuring that documentation is accurate and supports critical design evaluations and project milestones.
  • Continuously evaluate designs for manufacturability, assembly, testing, and operational efficiency, striving to optimize quality and cost.
  • Assist in the formulation of system requirements, ensuring proper flow down and verification strategies.
  • Facilitate regular configuration assessments to address subsystem functionalities, assembly processes, and operational considerations.
  • Lead the prioritization of development tasks and expectations, resolving integration challenges between engineering leads and their teams.
  • Manage the cross-functional change management process, coordinating design reviews and ensuring effective communication among all impacted groups.
  • Engage in cross-functional trade studies and impact analyses to support development and programmatic adjustments.
  • Oversee the management of Vehicle CAD models, ensuring adherence to top-down design principles and maintaining the integrity of the CAD structure.
  • Ensure compliance with configuration management best practices and Blue Origin's standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in design and configuration within the aerospace sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in configuration control for newly developed products, from initial trade studies to final design, manufacturing, and testing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience in a highly collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
  • Proficient in design and integration using 3-D CAD software, with experience in managing large assemblies (preferably Creo Pro/E).
  • Experience in component packaging for complex, integrated products.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Capacity to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or legally admitted refugee/asylee.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in designing and developing flight-proven spacecraft hardware.
  • Over 8 years of professional experience in integrated systems development.
  • In-depth knowledge of GD&T practices and tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools (DNG preferred).
