About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Global Business Development Director to lead our organization's business development efforts. This is a unique opportunity to drive our program development vision and strategy, and to position Relief International as a leader in the humanitarian and development sector.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leadership and achievement in a similar role, with experience managing teams in challenging contexts. They will be a creative and entrepreneurial professional, with a strong ability to analyze complex organizational challenges and present innovative solutions.

The Global Business Development Director will be responsible for driving our business development strategy, overseeing program development staff globally, and identifying, leading, preparing for, and winning proposals for new programs. They will also be responsible for building RI capacity and positioning RI to successfully prime for development proposals through donor engagement, consortia development, and innovative evidence-based technical and cost proposal designs.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in international relations, business administration, or a relevant field, and will be able to articulate RI's sharpened positioning as a leader in the humanitarian and development sector. They will be a strong communicator, with excellent verbal and interpersonal skills, and will be able to work effectively with field teams.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with the following experience and skills:

  • High emotional intelligence and ability to represent, influence, and lead
  • Track record of leadership and achievement in a previous, similar role and progressive responsibility
  • Proven experience managing teams in challenging/complex contexts and INGO context
  • Successful lead proposal writing and partnership development track record
  • Successful team management and leadership skills with the ability to work and support teams working in highly complex security situations
  • Ability to analyze complex organizational challenges and present innovative solutions
  • Demonstrated proficiency to write clearly, insightfully, and persuasively on tight deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • A passion and ability to work with field teams for sustained periods
