Role Summary:
The Certified Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in assisting pharmacists by reviewing, compounding, and dispensing medications. This position operates within a pharmaceutical distribution environment under the guidance of a licensed pharmacist.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process medication and supply requests for distribution to healthcare facilities associated with the health system.
- Commit to working at least one full weekend (Saturday & Sunday) each month.
- Coordinate deliveries to clients using various courier services while ensuring adherence to temperature control standards (e.g., cold chain, room temperature).
- Maintain accurate records of pharmaceutical distribution activities, including quality control measures, utilizing both automated and manual systems.
- Address and prioritize inquiries from clients regarding pharmacy distribution or compounding services.
- Employ automated dispensing technology and relevant software to fulfill customer orders efficiently.
- Manage inventory by receiving, restocking, and rotating stock, while overseeing expiration date compliance.
- Engage in process enhancement initiatives.
- Participate in compliance inspections and documentation related to medication storage protocols.
Additional Information
Educational Qualifications:
● No specific educational requirements if other qualifications are met; completion of a pharmacy technician training program is preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
● Registration with the appropriate state pharmacy board unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
● Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA is preferred unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
Professional Experience:
- Previous experience as a pharmacy technician is advantageous.
- Experience in inventory management is beneficial.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to stand for extended periods (typically throughout an 8-hour shift).
- Capability to lift at least 40 pounds repeatedly during the shift.
- Ability to reach overhead to access stored products.
