Position Summary

The Consultant Management Team (CMT) oversees all consultants engaged in engineering and design services for Substation and Transmission line initiatives. This team manages a diverse array of projects, necessitating a focus on high-priority tasks to ensure timely and budget-compliant project completion. In this capacity, you will serve as a technical project manager or project lead for designated substation assignments.

In this role, you will utilize comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles across various assignments and related fields. You will independently resolve engineering challenges and represent the organization in project discussions to address critical issues and coordinate efforts. This position demands advanced methodologies and the adaptation of theories and practices from the field and associated disciplines. The expertise required for this role typically stems from extensive experience.


Recognized as the technical authority or subject matter expert within the organization, you will apply advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes to your designated responsibilities. You will contribute to the formulation of new principles and concepts. Challenges encountered will often involve complex, interrelated studies that are difficult to define, requiring innovative solutions and sophisticated research methodologies. You will be accountable for significant projects or multiple complex initiatives of moderate to large scope, acting as the organization's representative on advanced projects and programs. You will also provide guidance to management and clients on advanced technical research and applications. Maintaining connections with internal and external stakeholders for technical matters will be essential. You will work under consultative guidance towards broad organizational goals, often initiating your own assignments. You will determine and pursue necessary actions to achieve desired outcomes, with your work being evaluated through collaboration rather than formal oversight. Additionally, you may lead a team of engineers, technicians, and other professionals to ensure successful project completion, including assessing work progress and providing feedback to supervisors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilizes extensive technical knowledge and demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of related disciplines. Applies advanced engineering principles, theories, and concepts while contributing to the development of new standards.
  • As a recognized internal technical expert, you will devise plans and conduct research to establish procedures, codes, and standards in complex problem areas, supporting the creation of technical documentation through innovative approaches.
  • Exhibits authority and technical leadership on self-directed assignments that have strategic implications for overall business objectives.
  • May oversee multiple critical and complex projects, including research, design, equipment specification, installation, and evaluation of work progress.
  • Acts as an advisor to management and clients on advanced technical research and applications, managing bid processes that involve preparing bid documents and evaluating proposals.
  • Serves as the organization's spokesperson on advanced projects and is influential in all communications with stakeholders.
  • May provide mentorship to engineers and other professionals, fostering knowledge transfer and continuous development of technical skills.
  • May coordinate processes related to budgeting, estimating, and work order management in support of ongoing engineering projects.

Minimum Requirements

· Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (or recognized equivalent).

· Relevant engineering experience of 2+ years for Staff level, 5+ years for Senior level, and 9+ years for Principal level, with appropriate professional registration as required.

· Demonstrated ability to exhibit unique technical skills and competencies established by the organization.
