Position Summary
The Consultant Management Team (CMT) oversees all consultants engaged in engineering and design services for Substation and Transmission line initiatives. With a diverse portfolio of projects, the CMT prioritizes tasks to ensure timely and budget-compliant project completion. In this role, you will serve as a technical project manager or project lead for designated substation projects.
In this capacity, you will leverage your extensive knowledge of engineering principles across various assignments and related fields. You will independently address engineering challenges and represent the organization in project discussions to resolve critical issues and coordinate efforts. This role demands advanced techniques and the adaptation of theories and practices within the field and related disciplines. The expertise required for this position typically stems from progressive experience.
As a recognized technical expert, you will apply advanced theories, concepts, and principles within your area of responsibility. You will contribute to the development of innovative principles and concepts. Challenges encountered will often be complex, requiring creative solutions and sophisticated research methodologies. You will manage significant projects or multiple complex initiatives and act as a spokesperson for advanced projects and programs. Additionally, you will advise management and clients on advanced technical research and applications, maintaining connections with internal and external stakeholders on technical matters. You will work under consultative guidance toward broad organizational goals, often initiating your own assignments. You will determine and pursue necessary actions to achieve desired outcomes, with your work evaluated through collaboration rather than formal review. You may also lead a team of engineers, technicians, and other professionals to ensure project success, providing feedback on performance and progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilizes extensive technical knowledge and demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of related disciplines. Applies advanced technical principles and contributes to the formulation of new standards and concepts.
- As a recognized internal technical authority, designs and conducts research to develop procedures, codes, and standards in complex problem areas, supporting the creation of technical documentation through innovative approaches.
- Exhibits leadership and authority on self-initiated assignments that align with strategic business objectives.
- May oversee multiple critical projects, including research, design, equipment specification, installation, and evaluation of work outcomes.
- Acts as an advisor to management and clients on advanced technical research and applications, managing bid processes and technical evaluations.
- Serves as a spokesperson for advanced projects, influencing communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- May mentor less experienced engineers, fostering knowledge transfer and ongoing development of technical skills.
- May coordinate processes related to budgeting, estimating, and work order management for ongoing engineering projects.
Minimum Requirements
· Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (or equivalent).
· Relevant engineering experience: 9+ years for Principal level, 5+ years for Senior level, and 2+ years for Staff level.
· Professional Engineer (PE) registration is required for Principal level and preferred for Senior level.
· Demonstrated technical skills and competencies established by the organization.
