Technical Product Manager III - League Studios, Game Engine Developer Experience

League Studio, a division of Riot Games, is responsible for creating iconic titles such as League of Legends, Wild Rift, and Teamfight Tactics, along with several other projects currently in development. To facilitate the ambitions of these games, the Studio invests heavily in enhancing the League game platform through the Tech Foundations team. Within this team, Hextech is dedicated to the engine, tools, and overall developer experience for League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics.

As a Technical Product Manager III (TPM) at Riot, you will merge your industry expertise with product leadership to deliver essential features and systems that enhance player experiences. In your role as the TPM for Hextech Developer Experience, you will establish the product direction, vision, and strategy for critical systems, frameworks, and tools integral to the Hextech Game Engine. Developers at League Studio will rely on your products throughout the entire game development lifecycle, from initial concept to delivery and ongoing maintenance. You will be tasked with defining product requirements and success metrics, ensuring a clear articulation of the customer value proposition, and creating a seamless onboarding experience for users of your products and features.

Your knowledge of game engines, game development, and application architecture will be pivotal in crafting products that empower developers to organize their data and create game behaviors, while effectively managing trade-offs related to performance, data reliability, scalability, and debuggability—all optimized for player satisfaction. Additionally, you will ensure that the engine architecture is efficiently utilized by the around-game client and facilitate the creation of tools and plugins used across League Studios.

You will report directly to the Director of Product Management for Hextech.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Define and drive a vision, strategy, and roadmap for your products.
  • Lead and establish the direction for products, tools, and support structures.
  • Manage relationships with partners and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication.
  • Collect user feedback and integrate it into product roadmaps.
  • Align your products and team with the goals of the game teams and Riot as a whole.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Manager and Technical Leads to synchronize on product and technical plans.
  • Review and develop Service Level Agreements and objectives with core customers.
Required Qualifications:
  • 6+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in product management.
  • Hands-on experience with game engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal) and game development.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience demonstrating strong technical knowledge and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional teamwork, leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience delivering products across multiple platforms.
  • Experience in defining developer experiences and platforms.
  • Experience collaborating with teams that build software for internal users.
  • Experience working on live games or services operating at a global scale.
