OVERVIEW:
A prominent Asian food manufacturer is looking for a skilled R&D Senior Food Technologist to join their team in Los Angeles, CA. This position plays a critical role in the development and enhancement of food products.
Reporting directly to the R&D Manager, the successful candidate will engage in a variety of initiatives, including conducting plant trials and collaborating with manufacturing facilities, suppliers, sales teams, and equipment/packaging vendors.
This role demands a blend of technical knowledge and product development capabilities, with approximately 40% of the time spent in desk/lab settings and 60% in production environments.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Testing & Implementation:
Design and execute tests for innovative technologies, production methods, and systems.
Product Development:
Conduct experiments aimed at refining existing products and creating new offerings, which include shelf-life evaluations, packaging assessments, sensory analyses, and additional methodologies.
Data Management:
Systematically record and manage data, reports, summaries, evaluations, and associated documentation.
Sales Support:
Provide assistance to the Sales team through sample generation, technical support, and customer presentations.
Project Management:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful progression of projects from initial concept to market launch.
Specifications Management:
Oversee internal and customer specification databases, partner with clients for specification and label development, and manage the Genesis nutritional program along with ingredient statements.
Regulatory Compliance:
Review labels and films for adherence to regulatory standards and offer technical insights.
Collaboration:
Engage with customers, ingredient suppliers, and equipment/packaging vendors as necessary.
Inventory Management:
Ensure sufficient stock of project ingredients and coordinate with R&D Technicians for the maintenance of the sample library.
QUALIFICATIONS:
B.S. in Food Science, Food Engineering, Culinary Arts, or a related scientific field.
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience, ideally in product development within a food processing organization.
Strong project management and communication skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively across disciplines to solve problems and rapidly develop new concepts.
Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards such as NLEA, GMP, HACCP, and ORGANIC guidelines.
