Technical Product Manager III - League Studios, Game Engine Developer Experience

Location: Bellevue, USA

League Studio, a division of Riot Games, is responsible for creating popular titles such as League of Legends, Wild Rift, and Teamfight Tactics, along with other projects in progress. To enhance these gaming experiences, the Studio invests heavily in the development and enhancement of the League game platform through the Tech Foundations team. The Hextech team, part of Tech Foundations, focuses on the engine, tools, and developer experience for League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics.

As a Technical Product Manager III (TPM) at Riot, you will merge your industry expertise with product leadership to deliver vital features and support systems for players. In your role as the TPM for Hextech Developer Experience, you will establish the product vision, direction, and strategy for essential systems, frameworks, and tools within the Hextech Game Engine. Developers at League Studio will rely on your products throughout the entire game development lifecycle, from concept to delivery and ongoing maintenance. You will define product requirements and success metrics, ensuring a clear communication of the customer value proposition and a seamless onboarding experience for utilizing your products and features.

Your knowledge of game engines, game development, and application architecture will be crucial in creating products that enable developers to organize their data and develop game behaviors while balancing performance, data reliability, scalability, and debuggability for an optimal player experience. Additionally, you will ensure that the engine architecture is efficiently utilized by the around-game client and facilitate the creation of tools and plugins used across League Studios.

You will report directly to the Director of Product Management for Hextech.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Define and drive a comprehensive vision, strategy, and roadmap for your products.
  • Lead and establish the direction for products, tools, and support structures.
  • Manage relationships with partners and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication.
  • Collect user feedback and integrate it into product roadmaps.
  • Align your products and team with the goals of the game teams and Riot.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Manager and Technical Leads to synchronize the product and technical plans.
  • Review and develop Service Level Agreements and objectives with core customers.
Required Qualifications:
  • 6+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in product management.
  • Hands-on experience with game engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal) and game development.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience demonstrating strong technical knowledge and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional teamwork, leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience launching products on multiple platforms.
  • Experience in defining developer experiences and platforms.
  • Experience working with teams developing software for internal users.
  • Experience with live games or services operating at a global scale.
