Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts a variety of laboratory tests with a focus on high and moderate complexity, under minimal supervision.
  • Assists in various laboratory support tasks.

General Expectations

  • Completes additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Adheres to all organizational policies and standards.
  • For detailed responsibilities, refer to departmental documentation provided during onboarding.
  • Ensures the secure handling of Protected Health Information (PHI) in compliance with regulations. Participation in annual training and adherence to the UH Code of Conduct is mandatory.
Qualifications

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in biological or chemical sciences is required.
  • Must meet CLIA '88 requirements for high complexity testing.
  • Graduation from an accredited MT/MLT program is essential.

Experience Requirements

  • Prior laboratory experience is preferred.

Licensure and Certification

  • Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT-ASCP) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT-ASCP) or equivalent is required within one year of employment.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing and walking.
  • Occasional sitting.
  • Regular lifting and carrying of items up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent pushing and pulling of items up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional climbing and balancing.
  • Frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Constant hand-eye coordination and communication.
