As a Clinical Laboratory Specialist, you will:

  • Conduct and analyze tests across all complexity levels.
  • Correlate abnormal laboratory findings with clinical conditions.
  • Ensure the accuracy of test results and determine the necessity for additional testing through quality control monitoring.

Communicate test outcomes, reference ranges, specimen requirements, and other relevant information to authorized personnel.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to laboratory protocols for specimen handling, processing, testing, and reporting patient results.
  • Perform laboratory tests in compliance with established guidelines.
  • Maintain awareness of regulatory standards related to job responsibilities.
  • Follow quality control policies and document all quality control activities, including instrument calibration and maintenance.
  • Take responsibility for addressing any quality control or assurance issues.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of instruments and equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Document all actions taken in response to deviations from established performance standards.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
  • Identify and resolve issues that may impact test performance or result reporting.

Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field or medical technology from an accredited institution. Alternatively, meet CLIA qualifications for high complexity testing personnel.

Certifications:
Preferred certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or eligibility from ASCP or AMT.

Experience:
No prior experience required.

Physical Requirements:
Visual acuity for microscopic analysis, ability to differentiate colors, fine motor skills for handling specimens, and the capacity to stand for extended periods. Exposure to hazardous materials may occur.

Personal Protective Equipment:
Adhere to standard precautions and utilize personal protective equipment as necessary.
