In the role of Clinical Laboratory Specialist, you will execute and showcase your expertise in laboratory testing while adeptly addressing technical and procedural challenges. Collaborating closely with our dedicated team, you will communicate and interpret test results by adhering to established standards, quality control measures, specimen requirements, and more. Your primary responsibilities will encompass:

  • Documenting and following all laboratory quality control protocols, activities, and maintenance of instruments.
  • Conducting laboratory tests in compliance with established policies.
  • Proposing enhancements and solutions.
  • Identifying and reporting issues that may impact test outcomes to your supervisor.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Strong critical thinking abilities.
  • A readiness to learn and adapt daily.
  • The capacity to work independently while demonstrating sound judgment.
  • The ability to thrive in high-pressure environments.
  • A background as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) with at least one year of experience in Chemistry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analysis, and record maintenance of patient test results.
  • Perform laboratory testing in a compliant manner.
  • Maintain knowledge of regulatory standards relevant to your duties.
  • Follow quality control policies and document all quality control activities and maintenance performed.
  • Take responsibility for addressing any quality control or assurance issues.
  • Ensure instruments and equipment are maintained according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance standards.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development.
  • Identify and resolve issues that may negatively affect test performance or reporting.

Education Requirements:

  • Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, or equivalent education and training as per CLIA qualifications.
  • Diploma and/or transcripts must be provided and verified.

Certifications:

  • No specific certifications required.

Competencies:

  • Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment are essential.
  • Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.
  • Capability to function effectively in a stressful environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Visual acuity for examining specimens under a microscope.
  • Ability to differentiate colors and tones.
  • Fine motor skills for handling specimens and laboratory equipment.
  • May require prolonged standing and light lifting.
  • Exposure to hazardous materials may occur.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Adhere to standard precautions and utilize personal protective equipment as necessary.
