TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Non-bargaining unit employee. Compensation is hourly based on experience. This is a part-time role that operates exclusively during the academic year.
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Collaborates effectively under the guidance of the Site Coordinator to ensure the safe management of a group of students, while planning and delivering engaging, age-appropriate enrichment activities.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This outline of the After-School Program Facilitator role is intended for identification and administrative purposes only. It does not encompass all duties, which may be assigned or modified by the Superintendent of Schools based on varying needs.
  1. Assist the Program Coordinator in overseeing daily operations of the out-of-school programs and activities at the site, including
    • snack distribution/counts,
    • student supervision,
    • student attendance,
    • development of enrichment activities.
  2. Collaborate closely with school administration, staff, and teachers to ensure seamless program operations.
  3. Support students with their homework.
  4. Design and maintain a high-quality program that implements age-appropriate activities and projects to enhance the school's educational pathway and daily learning.
  5. Establish and uphold strong communication and positive relationships with students, families, principals, teachers, school staff, and program staff at the site.
  6. Participate in professional development and training workshops, as well as staff meetings as required.
  7. Consistently create a friendly, professional, and welcoming environment for students and families.
  8. Honor cultural diversity and foster an inclusive, welcoming, and collaborative atmosphere.
  9. Submit accurate time sheets bi-weekly as directed to the Program Coordinator.
  10. Assume additional responsibilities as assigned.
  11. Supervise Year-Round Camp students during breaks throughout the academic year.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating self-direction and problem-solving abilities
  • Maturity, responsibility, professionalism, and a genuine interest in working with school-aged children
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate's degree
  • Experience with school-aged children and/or after-school programming and activities
  • Other qualifications as deemed appropriate and acceptable by the Board of Education
PERFORMANCE EVALUATION: Performance in this role will be assessed in accordance with the Board's policy on Evaluation of Non-Certified Staff
