Senior Manager of Global Mobility Programs

New London, Connecticut, United States Boston Consulting Group Full time
ROLE OVERVIEW
**This is a Temporary role**

The Senior Manager of Global Mobility Programs is tasked with overseeing and innovating the Global Ambassador initiative. This encompasses both routine operations (including program promotion, application management, candidate selection, placement, and participant assistance) and enhancement projects for the program. The Ambassador initiative offers an opportunity for our top-performing consultants to immerse themselves in different BCG offices for a year, gaining exposure to diverse cultures, clients, and methodologies. This experience fosters professional growth by enhancing personal expertise, expanding international networks, and cultivating cultural sensitivity.

Key responsibilities will involve comprehensive program marketing, liaising with offices and candidates, leading the application process, evaluating candidates, overseeing placements, conducting participant check-ins, and analyzing feedback to ensure the ongoing success of the initiatives. The individual will collaborate closely with members of the Global Mobility team, Mobility Managers, and Transfer Coordinators across various offices.

A crucial aspect of this position will be to spearhead the development and implementation of program enhancements aimed at ensuring this flagship mobility initiative and other premier programs adapt to the evolving needs of our consultants and the organization. The role holder will engage in designing, executing, and assessing the effectiveness of changes while proposing improvements as the refined format is trialed with offices and participants.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Program Management
    • Budget & Planning: Contribute to annual budget discussions with Finance, including seat allocation across offices based on size, demand, and historical participation.
    • Application & Placement: Guide offices on candidate selection and eligibility. Collaborate with offices and candidates to facilitate successful placements through information sharing and process management. Conduct workshops to ensure candidates are well-informed about the program experience. Work with the international tax team to comprehend tax implications of potential placements.
    • Participant Support: Organize orientation workshops to prepare participants for successful relocation and integration. Identify potential challenges for each individual and coordinate with home and host offices to ensure readiness. Follow up on any participant who is unstaffed for a duration; manage issue resolution and escalate to mobility leadership as necessary. Conduct participant check-ins and analyze feedback for trends, proposing enhancements for future cohorts. Promote global communications to celebrate participants and highlight the Ambassador experience.
  • Program Enhancement:
    • Program Improvements: Evaluate program outcomes and suggest content, policy, process, and tool modifications to uphold program quality; plan and execute future change initiatives in collaboration with mobility leadership. Facilitate Ambassador program team meetings, tracking progress on issues and managing resolutions.
    • Selection Criteria and Process: Redefine the selection criteria for the Ambassador program, aligning with career development standards, and enable the rollout of the new criteria. Revamp the current selection process to enhance efficiency and speed for applicants.
    • Program Experience: Innovate the program experience to provide a distinctive mobility journey that equips future BCG leaders with the necessary geographic and topical knowledge to meet BCG's business requirements.
    • Cost Optimization: Reassess the program to maximize return on investment and, where needed, reallocate resources to achieve higher returns.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field preferred.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience, ideally in management consulting or a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong project and process management expertise.
  • Familiarity with BCG systems and processes is advantageous.
  • Solid analytical capabilities.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Fluent in English, both oral and written.
COLLABORATION
The role will involve working closely with BCG's HR team, which is dedicated to attracting, developing, engaging, deploying, and retaining top talent in the market. Those in human resources roles manage the entire lifecycle of BCG employees—from recruiting exceptional talent and enhancing their skills to recognizing their contributions and supporting career advancement and mobility.
