POSITION SUMMARY

The Engineering Manager for Manufacturing is responsible for establishing and leading a technical engineering team tasked with defining, developing, and designing new product lines from concept to full-scale production, as well as enhancing existing product lines for the forestry and recycling sectors, ensuring customer satisfaction in both technical and cost aspects. This role will devise cost-effective strategies for product improvement and provide leadership and mentorship to the Engineering Department and site personnel.


Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and coordinate the activities of the maintenance, tooling, and engineering departments to facilitate efficient manufacturing operations across the organization.
  • Evaluate the cost-effectiveness and feasibility of manufacturing processes, making and implementing recommendations to reduce costs and enhance efficiency.
  • Provide guidance and oversight in the development and execution of plant renovations and expansions, coordinating with external contractors and vendors.
  • Prepare and implement a comprehensive factory master plan and capital investments to meet future market demands.
  • Introduce advanced automation and new technologies to enhance processes, product quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead and manage the manufacturing engineering team, offering guidance, mentorship, and training to ensure the team's success and professional development.
  • Monitor and analyze production data and metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Develop and manage the manufacturing engineering budget, ensuring optimal resource allocation and cost control.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to resolve complex manufacturing challenges, troubleshoot issues, and optimize production output.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Forestry Engineering, Forest Resources, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in engineering-related fields.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD for generating 3D solid model designs from concept to fabrication.
  • Familiarity with industry policies and procedures to ensure safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance.
  • In-depth understanding of one or more engineering disciplines (e.g., electrical, software, mechanical) and design criteria.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of plant engineering, industrial engineering, and tooling.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and diesel systems is required; control systems and powertrain knowledge is a plus.
