Your Role in Making a Difference:
The Patient Intake Specialist (RN) manages the admissions department during a designated shift, ensuring adherence to hospital and nursing policies and procedures.
They deliver direct patient care and engage with patients, colleagues, visitors, and external contacts in a respectful and professional manner.
Additionally, they guide and coordinate the activities of other staff members within the intake department.
Core Responsibilities:
The Patient Intake Specialist (RN) is accountable for the intake department, providing leadership and support to staff, overseeing quality assurance, and ensuring compliance with operational standards and regulations.
They identify insurance benefits, secure pre-certification for admissions, and complete all necessary admission documentation.
They respond to emergencies, offer support and guidance to staff, engage in performance improvement initiatives, and participate in continuing education programs.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education
Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
Experience
A minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health environment is preferred, with at least one (1) year of direct experience as an intake nurse.
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment.
Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification.
