Engineering Team Lead

We are in search of a dedicated and skilled Engineering Team Lead to guide and nurture our exceptional software engineering group. This role demands a robust technical foundation in embedded software development, outstanding leadership capabilities, and a solid history of overseeing software development teams. Furthermore, this position entails managing the comprehensive software development lifecycle and cultivating a team equipped to support the expanding Sparton business portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversees a significant segment of the engineering division, including staffing, budget formulation and oversight, engineering project management, and personnel administration.
- Accountable for setting and ensuring the achievement of departmental objectives and targets.
- Provides guidance and leadership to the software engineering team. Conducts and manages performance evaluations and improvement plans as necessary.
- May engage directly with clients through presentations, meetings, or other communication channels to represent Sparton.
- Establishes metrics for departmental objectives and collaborates with the Program Management Office to integrate these metrics into projects.
- Delivers presentations to Sparton executive leadership.
- Assigns specific tasks to engineers and teams for completion and monitors their progress.
- Identifies training needs for team members to ensure a solid understanding of policies, procedures, concurrent engineering, root cause analysis, trend analysis, and corrective actions.
- Determines requirements for overhead costs, including software licensing, necessary to support the development process.
- Responsible for developing and sustaining the Sparton Software Development methodologies.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience in embedded software development.
