As an Electrical Automation Solutions Engineer, you will deliver vital solutions and services that empower our clients to safeguard and manage essential electrical infrastructure and power systems globally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement automation strategies for power system management initiatives, with a focus on the SEL PowerMAX platform.
  • Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to establish project requirements, specifications, and timelines.
  • Conduct thorough feasibility assessments and analyze potential automation technologies for power system management endeavors.
  • Create comprehensive engineering designs, schematics, and layouts for power management systems tailored to industrial and commercial applications.
  • Refine and adapt existing power system algorithms to meet project specifications, and develop new control algorithms as necessary using IEC programming languages such as structured text and function block diagrams.
  • Configure and program automation devices, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), real-time automation controllers (RTACs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs), and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems.
  • Oversee testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of automation solutions to ensure optimal performance.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant industry standards and regulations in the field of power system automation.

This Position May Be Ideal for You If You Have:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design, development, and execution of automation solutions for power system management and microgrid control projects.
  • A solid understanding of power system components, microgrid architectures, and automation technologies.
  • Practical experience with automation devices, including PLCs, RTACs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
  • Proficient programming skills in industrial control systems, particularly with IEC programming languages like structured text and function block diagrams.
  • Experience in integrating control systems using industry-standard data communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP, and IEC-61850, utilizing both serial and Ethernet-based standards.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and the capacity to analyze complex challenges in power system and microgrid automation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse teams and clients.
  • Proven project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and deliver projects efficiently.
  • An understanding of relevant industry standards and regulations, such as IEEE, IEC, and NERC, pertaining to power system automation and microgrid integration.
