Job Overview:

The Senior Quality Engineering Specialist at L3Harris Technologies will report to the Senior Manager of Integrated Management Systems (IMS) Supplier Development. This role is pivotal in collaborating with a select group of suppliers to enhance their performance by fostering a proactive, defect-free quality culture, ensuring supplier excellence, and maximizing customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

The individual in this position will be tasked with the following:

  • Partner with Supply Chain teams to implement sourcing strategies that are resilient to business interruptions.
  • Assist Supply Chain in advancing the Get to Green initiatives.
  • Support various divisions with evaluations of new suppliers, source inspections, and First Article Inspections (FAIs) as necessary.
  • Oversee a designated group of suppliers, including Zero Defect Plans (ZDP) and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) for the assigned supplier portfolio.
  • Enforce IMS policies, procedures, and standards for Supplier Development that promote a proactive, defect-free quality culture, supplier excellence, and customer satisfaction.
  • Employ methodologies such as Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Predictive Quality, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Six Sigma, and Lean Principles to drive supplier enhancements.
  • Lead Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) initiatives for systemic quality challenges and validate corrective actions on-site for effectiveness.
  • Mentor and assess RCCA responses for thoroughness and effectiveness.
  • Conduct on-site evaluations of quality management systems.
  • Provide training on quality tools to both our suppliers and internal Supplier Quality teams.
  • Contribute insights to the annual operational plans and strategic objectives for the Supplier Development division.
  • Must possess the capability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance, which necessitates U.S. citizenship.
  • Exhibit exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary, potentially up to 60% of the time.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field, accompanied by a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience. A graduate degree with at least 4 years of related experience is also acceptable. Alternatively, a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Proven experience in supplier development, operations, supply chain management, and/or quality assurance.
  • Proficiency in APQP, SPC, FMEA, Control Plans, and Measurement System Analysis (MSA) is essential.
  • Recognized as a Subject Matter Expert in Zero Defect Plans, including data analysis and both reactive and proactive supplier engagement.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities, including experience with 8D methodologies—encompassing containment, problem definition, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Experience with AS9100 / ISO9001 quality system audits and process evaluations is required.
  • Familiarity with APQP processes is essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with First Article Inspection (FAI) and AS9102 standards.
  • Background in Lean Manufacturing principles and certification.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt and/or RedX certification is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of APQP, SPC, FMEA, Control Plans, and MSA methodologies.
