Position Overview

The Senior Vice President of People Operations will act as a vital strategic collaborator to the Senior Vice President and Business Unit President, as well as the leadership team. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, this role will be an integral part of the Briggs & Stratton Human Resources Leadership Team (HRLT). The individual will oversee all facets of the global Business Unit HR function, which encompasses comprehensive talent management, performance evaluation, and organizational development.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Transform Business Unit objectives into a meaningful and effective HR strategy that maximizes execution and impact.
  2. Enhance employee performance by establishing clear Goals and Objectives to set expectations, measures, and timelines.
  3. Collaborate with the Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer to design and implement impactful talent programs (performance management, succession planning, learning, and career development) that foster employee engagement and productivity.
  4. Lead talent reviews within the Business Unit and initiate the development of essential talent pipelines.
  5. Actively contribute to shaping a unified purpose that promotes collaboration across the Business Unit, including regional locations and corporate headquarters.
  6. Manage a team of HR professionals, including Plant HR Managers, while serving as a mentor and advisor to Plant-level and Operations leaders.
  7. Ensure that Briggs & Stratton's core values are understood and integrated throughout the Business Unit. Provide strategic guidance and coaching to the Business Unit leadership team to cultivate a high-performance culture of accountability.
  8. Collaborate with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs), such as Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, HRIS, and Safety, to enhance operational excellence throughout the Business Unit.
  9. Continuously elevate talent standards, ensuring the recruitment and retention of top performers and high-potential talent.
  10. Promote a culture of continuous feedback, driving higher performance standards within the Business Unit and fostering effective leadership and accountability.

Educational Background

Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related field.

Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of 12 years of experience in Human Resources, acquired through progressive leadership roles.
  • Global HR leadership experience, particularly in managing HR teams within a manufacturing context.
  • Proven expertise across a wide range of HR disciplines, including talent management, organizational efficiency, employee engagement, employee relations, project management, and process implementation.
