The Store Operations Leader is accountable for overseeing the daily functions of the grocery establishment. This role encompasses comprehensive responsibility for store operations and personnel management. The Store Operations Leader is tasked with making pivotal decisions regarding recruitment, training, disciplinary measures, and employee scheduling. It is anticipated that the individual in this position will dedicate a significant portion of their time to directing staff, managing store activities, and closely related responsibilities. Should any challenges arise, it is expected that the individual will communicate with their District Manager and/or Human Resources for additional support and training.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Comprehensive management of the grocery store's operations, including performance metrics, cash handling, inventory control, customer service, and staff management. Monitor, analyze, and implement strategies to enhance store performance by accurately forecasting weekly and daily sales targets and achieving or surpassing set objectives. Effectively communicate sales targets, departmental performance, and potential sales opportunities with team members to drive positive outcomes. Plan, schedule, and oversee labor in alignment with store sales and productivity benchmarks; develop action plans to address cost management issues. Formulate and execute strategies to optimize product placement and visual appeal. Ensure display accuracy and aesthetics to facilitate promotions, maintaining proper stock levels. Address store maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and sanitation concerns. Supervise cash handling and accounting processes, ensuring store security. Prioritize, organize, and coordinate work activities, managing time and resources to meet objectives efficiently. Ensure adherence to legal standards and company policies, including cash handling, security protocols, food safety, and consumer protection regulations. Focus on enhancing customer satisfaction and needs, ensuring staff deliver exceptional service through best practices and ongoing training. Address customer and employee grievances, making informed decisions to resolve issues favorably for all parties involved. Recruit, train, develop, and assess the performance of store personnel, collaborating with other management members; expected to recommend hiring and disciplinary actions as necessary. Provide constructive feedback, set performance expectations, and identify developmental opportunities for team members. Maintain professional relationships with union representatives and ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements, if applicable. Foster positive working relationships with direct reports, peers, supervisors, suppliers, and customers, effectively managing complex situations. Inspire team members to achieve common goals and uphold company policies, serving as a role model and promoting a positive work environment. Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet labor and sales objectives, proactively engaging in the hiring process to maintain operational efficiency. Make final hiring decisions, conduct interviews, and engage with prospective employees. Ensure new hires are informed of all policies and procedures, providing necessary training and evaluating their progress during the probationary period.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School Diploma (or equivalent) required; College degree preferred. Experience: Minimum of three years as a Store Manager in a multi-department retail environment or five years in a managerial role within retail.

Skills and Competencies:

Strong organizational and planning abilities; proficient in mathematical and analytical tasks. Proven customer service and supervisory experience. In-depth understanding of retail store operations. Excellent leadership and communication skills, both verbal and written. Proficient in computer usage. Ability to make sound decisions under pressure. Strong interpersonal skills.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: None.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods. Capability to lift, stack, and maneuver objects weighing up to approximately 55 lbs. May involve prolonged periods at a desk or computer. Use of calculators, keyboards, telephones, and other office equipment is expected. Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be necessary for some tasks. The work environment is fast-paced; availability for holiday, evening, and weekend shifts may be required.
