Position Overview

A Principal Scientist in our Investigation & Remediation division will cultivate and maintain client relationships, ensuring project completion on time and within budget while surpassing expectations. Your contributions will be crucial to the firm's success through:
  • Utilizing existing networks and establishing relationships with clients, vendors, and partners to foster a mutually beneficial business environment.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, actively listening to client needs, and crafting tailored solutions.
  • Designing and executing comprehensive project scopes and preparing environmental reports that provide professional insights and practical solutions.
  • Monitoring project performance, profitability, and timelines, ensuring appropriate resources are allocated for project completion.
  • Leading project teams, keeping them focused, and driving projects to successful conclusions. When challenges arise, you will maintain momentum.
  • Offering mentorship, training, and professional development opportunities to junior staff members.
  • Conducting technical work and supporting project deliverables across various Investigation & Remediation initiatives, including:
    • Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs);
    • Voluntary Cleanup Programs (VCP) and Industrial & Hazardous Waste Corrective Action Projects;
    • Application of the Resource Conservation & Recovery Act (RCRA);
    • Leaking Petroleum Storage Tank (LPST) assessments;
    • Management of Non-Aqueous Phase Liquids (NAPL);
    • Spill Response & Reporting;
    • Ecological Risk Assessments;
    • Groundwater Modeling and Remediation;
    • Risk-Based Corrective Action (RBCA); and
    • Regulatory assessments and closure of associated releases.
  • Demonstrating expertise in regulatory closures of environmental liabilities in various states is advantageous.
Qualifications We Seek
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Science, or a related discipline, with a minimum of 10-15 years of direct experience in environmental consulting.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge in environmental investigation and remediation applicable to industrial, energy, and commercial sectors.
  • A detail-oriented, motivated, analytical thinker with a strong problem-solving aptitude and work ethic.
  • Proven leadership capabilities with experience in mentoring junior staff.
  • A strong desire to develop and expand a client base through diverse business development strategies.
  • Excellent communication and critical thinking skills.
  • A valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
Professional certifications such as PE or PG are preferred.
