A DAY IN THE LIFE

The Lead Air Quality Project Coordinator role is based in a hybrid work environment, with flexibility for remote work for suitable candidates.

Our air quality division is expanding, and we seek a project coordinator to join our innovative and collaborative office culture. Montrose values the recruitment of highly skilled professionals with outstanding technical expertise and problem-solving capabilities. Experience in air quality permitting and compliance, particularly within the chemicals and refining industries, is highly desirable.

As a vital member of our team, your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of activities, including:
  • New source review (NSR), non-attainment NSR, Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) permitting, and Title V permitting.
  • Conducting regulatory air dispersion modeling using models recommended by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) (e.g., AERMOD).
  • Calculating emissions and developing emissions inventories.
  • Assessing best available control technology (BACT).
  • Performing regulatory applicability analyses across state, local, and federal regulations.
Additional duties for this position include:
  • Managing a team of consultants both administratively and through project work;
  • Ensuring quality control of personal and managed projects;
  • Communicating effectively with both external and internal stakeholders;
  • Building and maintaining trusting professional relationships with clients;
  • Promoting Montrose externally to clients.
YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS

  • Advanced knowledge of relevant regulations related to tasks, projects, and client operations.

  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Professionalism to establish and maintain long-term working relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Fundamental math and science skills (e.g., unit conversions, data evaluation).
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite (e.g., Word/Excel/Outlook/SharePoint) and time/expense tracking software.
  • Familiarity with software and tools relevant to your projects (e.g., AERMOD, ArcGIS, TRI-ME).
  • Understanding of engineering concepts such as chemical processes and emissions control technologies.
Requirements:
  • B.S. or higher from an accredited institution in engineering or a related scientific field.
  • 7 to 10 years of experience in air quality consulting, with a minimum of 4 years in a project management role.
  • Strong understanding of engineering concepts related to chemical processes and emissions control technologies.
  • A high level of professional ethics.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to safe work practices, adhering to all safety rules and regulations.
  • Participation in continuous improvement initiatives and team efforts.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
  • Ability to define problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions for presentation to clients and colleagues.
  • Flexibility to adapt to a fast-paced and demanding work environment, working on various projects.
  • Willingness to engage in fieldwork that may involve physical activity.
  • Minimal travel requirements (less than 25%).
