Retail Operations Managers are tasked with: delivering exceptional service, meeting sales targets, and upholding company standards in a dynamic and engaging retail atmosphere. The Retail Operations Manager reports directly to the Store Team Leader.

Retail Operations Managers are responsible for offering customers a distinctive shopping experience by employing the G.U.E.S.T. service model. The responsibilities of the Retail Operations Manager also encompass: cultivating and motivating high-achieving teams that meet sales objectives, managing payroll within established budgets, training personnel across all store areas, executing and maintaining visual merchandising standards, ensuring operational efficiency, and holding the team accountable for adhering to The Paper Store's mission statement, standards, and policies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serve as a TPS Champion by exemplifying the G.U.E.S.T. service model, consistently providing Exceptional ServiceWelcome and greet every customer enthusiastically and warmlyIdentify customer needs by posing open-ended inquiriesClarify product features and advantages in relation to customer needs by offering comprehensive product knowledgeRecommend additional items to enhance sales through effective selling techniquesExpress sincere gratitude to the customer and invite them to returnAct as a TPS Brand AmbassadorFoster customer loyalty by being friendly, attentive, and respectfulInspire and motivate the team daily by providing positive reinforcement and utilizing TPS recognition programsContribute to a positive workplace by modeling ethical conduct, encouraging open dialogue, and maintaining confidentiality as requiredMaintain professional attire, demeanor, and appearance in compliance with company dress codeExhibit sound judgment in decision-making, prioritizing the interests of the customer, store team, and businessDemonstrate a commitment to training and development by utilizing all available training resourcesShow initiative to cross-train in all departments to enhance leadership capabilitiesContinuously train and mentor associates on merchandising/operational tasks, company expectations, and GUEST service standardsLead and ensure the timely completion of company directivesDevelop strong relationships with the Visual Merchandiser, Hallmark Merchandiser, Store Team Leaders, District Manager, and corporate partnersStay informed about all current promotions and process them accurately at the point of saleChampion new product launches by being the subject matter expert on new product informationEnsure all marketing and promotional signage is current and accurately placedEnsure all communication channels (Smart Sheet, email, etc.) are addressed promptlyAfter thorough training, perform ear piercings and provide a safe, sanitary experience in accordance with state, federal, and CDC guidelines. (select locations)Fulfill management functions as required, including but not limited to: store opening and closing, point of sale management, overseeing the sales floor, coordinating break schedules, etc.Assist the Store Team Leader in executing strategies to enhance sales and customer loyalty through: Effective Sales and Service Leader behaviors, The Hallmark Crown Rewards Program, TPS customer capture, and store eventsComplete all tasks and directives as assigned by the Store Team Leader, Merchandiser, or District ManagerAdhere to all company policies and procedures

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Previous experience in specialty retail is preferredAbility to multitask while remaining attentive to customersCapability to adapt to and lead changeProficient in Microsoft Office and POS SystemsAbility to be mobile on the sales floor and/or stock room for extended periodsWillingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidaysAbility to work effectively and lead within a team environmentPossess resourcefulness and initiative to problem-solve, operate strategically, and foster team buildingAbility to work independently while maintaining strong attention to detailAbility to lift and move medium to large items up to 50 lbs., using appropriate safety techniquesWillingness to travel for new store openings, remodels, etc.
