POSITION SUMMARY:

The Marine Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Union Labor Workforce (ILA) and plays a crucial role in orchestrating daily operational schedules. This position ensures the seamless delivery of services, effective inventory management, and prompt responses to client inquiries. The supervisor is also tasked with training personnel on company policies and operational procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains oversight of all operational facets, ensuring effective communication among management, supervisory staff, and production teams.
  • Identifies training needs and guarantees that all team members possess the necessary technical skills and understanding of their roles and performance objectives.
  • Organizes and allocates personnel to optimize work efficiency and initiates cross-training programs to meet productivity targets.
  • Ensures accurate documentation of employee performance, safety records, and compliance with established protocols.
  • Adheres to safety, sanitation, and security regulations.
  • Initiates maintenance requests for equipment and facility requirements.
  • Collaborates with the Port Captain and Cargo Officer regarding stowage, loading, and unloading operations.
  • Conducts regular inspections of loading and unloading equipment to ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations.
  • As a member of the management team, undertakes additional projects or responsibilities as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in supervising personnel across various cargo types, particularly breakbulk.
  • Knowledge of specialized rigging and cargo handling equipment.
  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Proven safety record.
  • Able to train and onboard new staff.
  • Skilled in motivating and fostering team morale.
  • Proficient in supervising, training, and holding team members accountable for their performance.
  • Experience in warehouse operations and stevedoring.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving history.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Verbal Comprehension: Ability to understand both oral and written communications, including technical information.
  • Communication Skills: Capable of providing clear instructions and guidance.
  • Reasoning Skills: Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Time Management: Values and manages time effectively, prioritizing tasks efficiently.
  • Proficiency: Competent in Microsoft Office applications.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The role frequently requires sitting, standing, walking, handling objects, reaching with hands and arms, and engaging in writing, talking, typing, and listening. Occasionally, the associate may need to sit, stoop, bend, or kneel and lift or move up to 35 lbs. The work environment includes both warehouse and outdoor settings, with occasional office duties.
