Position Summary: The Technical Sales Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing the organization's product sales across designated territories. This role requires effective interaction with clients and a deep understanding of the products and services offered by Graham. Utilizing technical expertise, organizational skills, and customer insights, the specialist will influence clients and assist them in selecting the most suitable products/services to meet their requirements, ultimately driving revenue growth. Additionally, this position supports marketing initiatives, market analysis, and the technical evolution of our offerings.

Resource Management (Material and Personnel)

Proactively seek and nurture sales opportunities.
  1. Follow up on sales leads and cultivate new prospects.
  2. Engage with customers through self-directed efforts, identifying potential inquiries and solicitations for evaluation in line with company protocols.
  3. Create sales and marketing proposals tailored to clients for technical products and services.
Travel as necessary to conduct regular sales visits, fostering relationships and following up on leads.

Account Management
  1. Build relationships with fellow sales personnel.
  2. Plan and support promotional activities as needed.
  3. Develop a comprehensive business strategy and conduct annual assessments against key performance indicators (KPIs).
Stay informed about potential competitors and devise strategies to secure wins.

Resource Scheduling, Output Management, and Reporting

Market engagement, relationship cultivation, and promotional efforts.
  1. Establish connections with key stakeholders within targeted business sectors and clients.
Plan and facilitate promotional events, including trade shows and educational sessions.
  1. Produce marketing materials such as brochures, website content, and product presentations.
Conduct market research to identify customer needs and share insights with team members.

Continuous Improvement
  1. Study Graham's existing product lines to gain familiarity with current markets and customer applications.
  2. Continuously expand knowledge of the technical aspects and limitations of company products and capabilities.
  3. Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
Equipment & Process Maintenance
  1. Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions accurately.
  2. Follow up on professional development objectives and opportunities.
  3. Express a desire for growth within the organization.
Qualifications:

To be eligible for this position, candidates must possess the requisite knowledge, training, experience, and skills.

Education and Training
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical field is required.
Experience:
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
Other:
  • Willingness to work overtime as necessary.
  • Domestic and international travel may be required.
  • Training in Batavia, NY to learn about products and organizational structure.
  • Utilize a personal vehicle for business activities as directed.

  12. Create and deliver formal presentations to clients and staff.
  13. Research and remain aware of industry activities, trends, regulations, and compliance.
  14. Conduct routine sales visits to build and maintain relationships and follow up on leads.
  15. Meet established sales quotas and revenue targets.
  16. Implement short- and long-term strategies for sales and marketing initiatives.
  17. Prepare regular reports, track performance metrics, and communicate planning outcomes.
  18. Continuously update and communicate strategic sales and marketing plans.
  19. Analyze and report sales data using contact management software to inform product/service planning.
  20. Effectively communicate across all organizational levels while maintaining ongoing interactions.
  21. Perform other job-related duties as needed or assigned.
