Brunel is seeking a skilled Project Controls Specialist to enhance our Capital PMO team, focusing on the West Texas region. The successful candidate will be adept at executing all necessary project controls to support every stage of the project lifecycle, while delivering insightful reporting and analysis to facilitate informed decision-making.

Work Schedule: Full-time, with a flexible hybrid model

Contract Type: W2 Contract-to-Hire

Duration: Initial one-year term with opportunities for extension based on performance and project requirements

Compensation: Hourly rate with overtime pay

Role Overview:

This position is pivotal in supporting the scheduling and financial oversight of projects in the West Texas area. Candidates should possess experience in relevant sectors or applicable capital construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in maintaining the cost analysis application database.
  • Drive new initiatives related to cost management and analytical efforts.
  • Generate comprehensive Project and Program cost reports for the Project Managers.
  • Identify and resolve cost-related issues.
  • Review monthly discrepancies and errors in the integration process.
  • Develop and manage budgets while monitoring expenditures.
  • Establish and maintain project work breakdown and cost breakdown structures in collaboration with the engineering team.
  • Monitor and report on current construction project costs, estimates at completion, and variances.
  • Track actual and projected costs against authorized funding and identify necessary adjustments.
  • Prepare reports for monthly accrual and reforecast meetings, updating management and coordinating with accounting.
  • Support the preparation of monthly accruals and forecasts for all managed projects.
  • Maintain a log of scope changes and ensure adherence to the scope change process.
  • Utilize detailed project schedules to develop time-phased cost forecasts.
  • Create consolidated baseline schedules to support the project execution team.
  • Monitor construction progress and provide regular schedule updates to stakeholders.
  • Oversee project schedules to identify anomalies and provide detailed analyses as required.
  • Foster effective relationships with company teams, contractor representatives, and stakeholders to ensure informed planning activities.
  • Prepare and distribute routine bi-weekly and monthly reports on all assigned construction project expenses.
  • Generate detailed ad-hoc reports as needed.
  • Participate in the contractor selection process by providing insights on contractor performance.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols by all personnel and contractors.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience in project controls, particularly in oil and gas or capital construction projects.
  • Proficiency in cost analysis tools and database management.
  • Experience with Primavera P6, SAP, and Ares Prism.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
