Job Overview

Position Summary: The Financial Controller will oversee the accounting department, manage the organization’s financial documentation, and ensure adherence to regulatory standards. This role includes the preparation of financial reports, budget management, financial analysis, and collaboration with senior leadership to shape the organization’s financial direction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting:
    • Supervise the creation of precise and timely financial reports, such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
    • Guarantee compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other applicable accounting regulations.
    • Coordinate annual audits and collaborate with external auditors to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Direct the budgeting process, collaborating with department leaders to formulate and monitor budgets.
    • Generate financial forecasts and deliver variance analysis to senior leadership.
    • Evaluate financial performance and provide recommendations for cost management and revenue growth.
  • Internal Controls:
    • Establish and enforce internal controls to protect company assets and maintain the accuracy of financial reporting.
    • Regularly assess and revise accounting policies and procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with all tax laws and filing obligations.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, ensuring high performance and engagement levels.
    • Set objectives for the team, providing consistent feedback and performance assessments.
    • Encourage a collaborative and efficient work environment.
  • Strategic Planning:
    • Work with senior management to formulate and implement the organization’s financial strategy.
    • Offer financial insights and recommendations to facilitate strategic decision-making.
    • Engage in long-term planning and capital allocation discussions.

Qualifications:

  • CPA or CMA designation preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles.
  • Comprehensive understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting practices.
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems.
