As a Retail Operations Supervisor, you will embody Lush's Leadership Principles in every aspect of your interactions with customers, colleagues, and operational tasks: Be Authentic, Be Inquisitive, Lead with Courage, Adapt and Grow, Cultivate Talent, and Live with Intention.

The Supervisor assists the Store Manager in various business functions as required; as the second-in-command, you will assume managerial responsibilities to ensure an exceptional customer experience, a positive staff environment, operational excellence, and the achievement of sales targets.


Key Responsibilities:

Customer Engagement:

Collaborate with your team to develop strategies that surpass daily sales targets and create a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere for every visitor, ensuring their needs are met and their day is brightened.


Brand Advocacy:

Educate both customers and staff about our brand values, effectively communicating our stance on Animal Testing, Fresh Cosmetics, Ethical Sourcing, 100% Vegetarian products, Handmade goods, and Naked Packaging through community involvement and initiatives that drive traffic.


Product Knowledge:

Continuously enhance your understanding of our products through ongoing learning and consistently provide informed recommendations tailored to individual needs.


Sales Performance:

Exhibit strong business insight and comprehension of metrics, budgets, and reports, demonstrating how your actions on the sales floor can influence positive outcomes.


Lead with Courage:

Be actively present on the sales floor to support your team, address inquiries, eliminate barriers, resolve issues, and inspire them to achieve their sales objectives.


Cultivate Talent:

Take charge of your own development by evaluating your performance, seeking constructive feedback, and pursuing opportunities to enhance your skills, knowledge, and capabilities; also, support your team's growth through mentorship and leading by example.


Be Authentic:

Share your needs and feedback openly with your team and leaders, while remaining adaptable to the evolving needs of the business.

Recruitment and Talent Acquisition:

Assist in staffing your shop with top-tier talent by actively networking, recruiting, hiring, and planning for succession within your market.


Team Development:

Work alongside your Manager to devise and implement strategies that enhance staff engagement, retention, performance, and practices surrounding Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging.


Operational Excellence:

Compliance and Standards:

Collaborate with your manager to ensure your shop adheres to company policies and that staff are following standards for operations, product integrity, workplace respect, health and safety, and daily communications.


Inventory Management:

Support the training of your inventory team to comply with freshness standards and rotation protocols, managing orders to guarantee the right products are available in appropriate quantities within your budget.


Visual Merchandising:

Identify and encourage your team to take pride in maintaining a clean and appealing work environment, adhering to merchandising and design standards to deliver a consistent customer experience and drive sales.


Staff Scheduling and Attendance:

Ensure the appropriate number of staff with the right skill sets are scheduled during peak times, and that breaks and meals are managed and recorded accurately to support staff wellbeing and payroll integrity.


Qualifications:

Required:
1-3 years of experience in a supervisory role within a retail setting.
Exceptional listening and communication abilities.
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent organizational and time management capabilities.
Proficient customer service, supervisory, and sales skills.
Knowledge and passion for skincare, natural beauty, and ethical business practices.
Flexibility to work varied hours to meet shop needs, including holidays, evenings, and weekends.

Preferred:
Experience with consultation-based customer service approaches.
Aptitude for developing and training staff through positive feedback and coaching.
Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Suite, and adaptability to other systems as needed.
Basic HR skills in hiring, scheduling, training, and performance management.
Experience in cross-cultural collaboration and training in DEIB or social justice.
Fluency in Spanish, French, or other languages.
