About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Historian to join our team at Sacred Heart University. As a key member of our cultural resource management team, you will play a critical role in advising on the park's cultural resources, particularly history.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, evaluate, and monitor cultural resources, including historical sites, monuments, and artifacts.
  • Conduct historical research to inform management decisions and develop cultural resource management plans.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and higher-graded specialists to identify potential threats to cultural resources and develop recommendations for mitigation.
  • Assist in creating and implementing segments of cultural resource management plans, interpretive prospectus, and spin-off documents.
  • Conduct historical research for planning documents, including general management plans, special history studies, and environmental impact statements.
  • Recommend, plan for, and execute historical investigations required to meet National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and NPS guidelines.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in history or a related field, or a combination of education and experience.
  • At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service.
  • Experience in historical research, cultural resource management, and/or related fields.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex information effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and customer service.
